Lissy is a young up and coming singer songwriter with a distinctive voice and a skill for writing emotionally charged lyrics that instantly grab your attention and leave you wanting more.
Born and raised in Stoke-on-Trent, England, in January 2015 Lissy moved across the Atlantic to live in Lexington Kentucky, until June 2017. Living in the US provided inspiration for her songwriting, and also influenced her music style. The result is captivating lyrics that transcend you into a unique blend of Americana, Country and Blues. Her influences include Norah Jones, Lana Del Rey, Johnny Cash all mixed with a big helping of Kentucky charm.
Lissy soon became part of the local music community, a regular at LexJam and Writers in the Round and in April 2016, her music took her to a Battle of the Bands competition at Eastern Kentucky University where she was one of the winning acts. Lissy then began to Perform professionally in coffee shops, restaurants and for Charities such as Green House 17 and the Christian Appalachian Project. She went on to be nominated for 3 music awards, perform at Lexifest Festival, radio and TV stations WKYT CBS & ABC36. In October 2016 She performed at Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour at the Lyric Theatre, where she performed her song Heavy Hearted , along side Grammy winner Blues man Bobby Rush. Before leaving Lexington Lissy was invited to record a live Red Barn Radio Concert, broadcast in November 2017.
Lissy teamed up with Broken Crow Studios in Lexington Kentucky released her debut album 'Reminds Me of You' in January 2017. It features Nashville musicians Mark Prentice (bass & keys) and Michael severs (lead guitar) who have performed with greats such as Bruce Springsteen and Don McClean, Olivia Newton John. Lissy's first song 'HOME', written following the move from her home town of Stoke-on-trent to the USA is featured in the 2018 LexGiveBack charity commercial campaign. www.lexgiveback.org
Since arriving back in in England July 2017 Lissy has featured on several radio stations including BBC Radio Stoke and BBC Introducing. She was delighted to open the Main stage at LeeFest -The Neverland for Headliner Jake Bugg on August 11th 2017 and was invited to perform at The City of Stoke-on-Trent's Our Heroes Event. In January 2018 Lissy was nominated for and won the 6 Towns Radio award for Best Music Act
Lissy commenced a BA Hons degree in Songwriting at the British Institute of Modern Music, Manchester in September 2017 and has continued to perform at Festivals and venues in and around England .
In April 2018 Lissy made a debut performance at The Rockwood Music Hall in New York.
Later in April she recorded her 2nd session at BBC Introducing which was broadcast on 12th May 2018.
July 2018, Lissy returned to the USA to perform at Whiskey Jam, Winners Bar, Downtown Nashville 5th July and a Red Barn Radio Concert in her hometown of Lexington Kentucky 11th July followed by Overtones Lexington Community Radio 13th July.
Lissy is excited to return to Neverworld in Kent opening the Main Stage with her band on Saturday 4th August 2018, along side Tom Brennan and Headliner Bastille
5th August sees a performance on the BBC Introducing Stage at BBC Country File Live, held at Blenheim Palace.
